RX vs. Non-RX Lenses
Color appearance: Because RX lenses are custom-made for each prescription, the color may appear slightly different compared to non-RX lenses. This variation is normal and part of the custom manufacturing process.
Weight and thickness: RX lenses are thicker than non-RX lenses to accommodate the prescription and typically add approximately 4–7 grams of weight.
Prescription impact: The thickness of a lens depends on your prescription. Nearsighted and farsighted prescriptions — as well as prescription strength — can affect whether thickness is more noticeable at the center or edges of the lens.
Replacements & Interchangeability
Prescription lenses require precise mounting to ensure proper fit, alignment, and optical performance.
For this reason:
All replacement RX lenses must be professionally mounted by our partner lab.
Customers must send their existing RX eyewear (frame and lenses) to our lab for installation of the replacement lenses.
We do not sell standalone prescription lenses for customer self-installation or interchangeability.
Professional mounting helps prevent damage to frames and lenses while ensuring proper optical alignment.
If you need replacement prescription lenses, please contact our RX team for assistance with purchasing lenses and arranging the lab installation.
Ordering & fulfillment
RX Fulfillment & Shipping
Custom prescription lenses typically require 15–30 business days of production after your approved RX order is completed at checkout.
Shipping estimates displayed at checkout do not include custom prescription production time.
Once production is complete, U.S. prescription orders ship via complimentary FedEx Express. Delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.
RX Return & redo Policy
Because RX lenses are custom-made, returns work a little differently from non-prescription eyewear — but you still have options.
Returns & Exchanges
30-day returns: Contact our RX team within 30 days of delivery for returns related to fit, style, lens color, or personal preference.
Refund: Receive the amount paid for your RX eyewear, less a $95 custom-lens fee per returned pair.
Full store credit: Receive the full merchandise amount paid as store credit, with no $95 fee. Store credit never expires.
Exchanges: Eligible RX exchanges are handled by our team without the $95 fee. Price differences may apply.
Prescription & Lab Issues
Confirmed RIA or lab manufacturing and processing errors are corrected at no cost.
If the prescription provided was incorrect, our RX team will review your situation and help determine the appropriate resolution.
RIA prescription eyewear is covered by our one-year limited manufacturing warranty, beginning on the original purchase date.
The warranty covers qualifying manufacturing defects, including lens chipping, cracking, or webbing under normal use. Scratches, accidental damage, and normal wear and tear are not covered.
For any RX warranty concern, please submit an RX Issue & Lab Check. Our RX team and partner lab will review the issue and determine the appropriate next steps.
We do not currently accept HSA/FSA cards as payment. However, we can provide an itemized invoice upon request that you may submit to your HSA/FSA provider for potential reimbursement.
Reimbursement eligibility is determined by your plan administrator.
