5/21 Update: Mary Brascia Into Women's Final vs. Anna Leigh Waters
Mary has made it to the final in a thrilling upset over Lea Jansen, 12-10, 12-14, 11-6! Down 2-10 in the 1st game, she rallied all the way back to take the first. Narrowly losing the second after having 2 match points, she stayed composed, yet relentless in the 3rd, keeping herself a few points ahead of Jansen the whole way home. Just amazing pickleball.
Mary will now play Anna Leigh Waters in the finals for the gold medal this afternoon. She also will go for bronze with her sister Maggie after a tough battle with Jorja Johnson and Vivienne David, losing out by a hair 12-14 in the 3rd game. The sisters will look to take home 3rd place against the strong team of Paris Todd and Catherine Parenteau.
It wasn't meant to be on Championship Sunday, losing a great battle to #1 seed Anna Leigh Waters, but what an amazing run from Mary this weekend! Check out the post-tournament breakdown from the PPA Tour on Mary's incredible performance here.
